COVID-19 Update

A Message to Our Guests:

The health and well-being of our guests and employees is of paramount importance to us at La Fonda on the Plaza.

We are actively monitoring Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates from the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) and will continue to follow guidelines from these agencies and local health authorities.

We are in full compliance with all guidelines from the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control as well as the New Mexico Department of Health and are following all of their recommendations and requirements.

And per orders issued from New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, dine-in service at our restaurants has been discontinued and we have been offering only take-out and room service from our restaurant, La Plazuela.  On Tuesday, May 26th the Governor declared full service outdoor patio dining is permitted and declared indoor dining establishments can open at 50% capacity on June 1, 2020.

As a result, La Plazuela will open for dining room service on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available for dining room service, room service or curbside delivery.  The Terrace Garden Patio, offering lite fare and drinks outdoors is open daily from 3PM - 9PM.  The Bell Tower Rooftop Bar will open on June 1 at 3PM.

The Spa at La Fonda is closed until further notice.  We are fully compliant with the state order to limit hotel occupancy to 25% through June 1, 2020.  After June 1, La Fonda will operate at 50% occupancy.

Please note there is a mandatory 14-day quarantine order in place for out-of-state airport guest arrivals.

We continue to remind our staff members of everyday actions to help prevent the spread of germs, including:

  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Staying home when you are sick.
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throwing the tissue in the trash.  Or, sneeze/cough into your elbow if no tissue is within reach.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipes – telephone, door handles, keyboards, desk surface.
  • Washing your hands, thoroughly and frequently!
  • Practice distancing – avoid being in groups of more than 5, use the elbow bump instead of a handshake, stand 6 feet away from another person.

The comfort and peace of mind of our guests is our top priority.  We have implemented the following housekeeping measures:

  • Upon guest checkout each guest room is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized by a staff member wearing sterile gloves and a face mask.
  • All bedding is washed with disinfecting detergents at high temperatures.
  • Rugs, drapes, furniture and surfaces are sprayed/wiped with an antibacterial sanitizing product.
  • Each guest room is kept out of service for four days before a new guest is checked in.
  • Public areas are aggressively attended by our housemen wearing sterile gloves and surfaces are sprayed with disinfectant and wiped down hourly.
