Artist in Residence at La Fonda

Join Us For a Creative Adventure in our Lobby

About the Artist-In-Residence Program

For 95 years, La Fonda on the Plaza has had a long-standing passion for the arts, collecting original art that graces our walls. Along with our expansive, wholly owned, art collection, La Fonda is proud to announce our Artist-in-Residence program. Now, you too, can experience a working artist studio every Thursday through Saturday afternoon in the lobby of La Fonda.

Joining with Santa Fe’s new Artists in Residence program, La Fonda will be offering a weekend art experience from November through February that will connect a variety of different New Mexico artists, including many whose work graces our walls, with our guests and visitors right here in the lobby of the hotel. From jewelry-making to basket-weaving to beadwork to painting, come experience the magic of art and interact with the artists as they create their masterpieces and experience first-hand their creative process. You can download the full calendar here.

The program features a working pop-up studio and a gallery of the featured artist's work that is open to hotel guests and the public. We encourage all visitors to interact with the artist, while watching the evolution of each piece of work firsthand. The Artist-in-Residence Program serves as an extension of the hotel's large art collection and works hand-in-hand with hotel staff to both promote the program and provide a distinctly unique experience for guests and visitors of the hotel.
