Jenny's View

Dear Friends,

Chiles have been growing in New Mexico for nearly 400 years, so it’s no wonder they’ve become our essential crop and one of the main attractions in the Land of Enchantment.  Our high altitude, perfect climate and rich soil afford the perfect growing conditions, producing some of the most distinct flavors in the country.  At La Fonda, enjoy rich, authentic chile featured in Chef Lane Warner’s signature cuisine at La Plazuela.

For chile enthusiasts in search of an elevated take on our state’s signature cuisine, we’re offering a boutique experience.  Book our exclusive Chile Package and enjoy our reimagined and newly remodeled Terrace Inn at La Fonda.   The package includes a two-night stay in our luxury guest rooms, dinner for two in La Plazuela (excluding alcohol), and a copy of The Great Chile Book by Mark Miller.

Inspired by New Mexico’s varied landscapes, distinctive architecture, Georgia O'Keeffe's Ghost Ranch home, and the Navajo, Pueblo and Hispanic cultures, The Terrace Inn at La Fonda offers a distinctly New Mexican experience.  The 15 lavish rooms boast stylishly appointed furnishings that feature a blend of minimalistic, clean lines with historic and cultural elements and original art unique to the region, including refinished 100-year-old heart pine wood flooring. Each room opens onto a private patio or balcony that overlooks the beautiful Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis de Assisi or the historic Loretto chapel and the sunlit Sangre de Cristo mountains.

A Large Glass Window with painted sheers

Our longtime friend and architect Barbara Felix, spearheaded the design of the remodel project.  Dedicated to creating a retreat where guests can truly embrace the magic of Santa Fe, her team created a rooftop sanctuary that affords the ultimate combination of comfort and luxury.  The rooms highlight our storied past while introducing contemporary elements, evident in the room’s custom window sheers that incorporate the work of award-winning Crow painter, Del Curfman and the tranquil fading tiles featured in the updated showers.

And despite the dropping temperatures, the city of Santa Fe really heats up in September! Here’s some of the autumn events slated for the month:
