Ira Lujan

Biography

Born February 23, 1977 in Albuquerque, NM. Native American from Taos/Ohkay Owingeh Pueblos. Introduced to glass blowing in Taos, NM. summer 2000 and started apprenticeship with the Native American Glass Artist Tony Jojola. Pilchuck summer 2006, 2009 studied under Preston Singletary. Working with Jojola brought forth the possibilities of incorporating native themes and influences with ancient techniques of glass blowing. Today, Lujan's work is highly influenced by everyday scenes of Native America. " I was fascinated by the movement of hot glass and the way it captures light, and the potential of creating Native Art with this exciting new Medium".
