The weekend begins with two days of engaging talks at the New Mexico History Museum,

Friday 10/25 & Saturday 10/26 from 1:00-5:00 PM. Scheduled talks include:

• Lecture and pottery demonstration by Barbara Gonzales, great-granddaughter of Maria Martinez

• Discussion of Mary Colter & her 150th birthday with biographer Arnold Berke & architect Barbara Felix

• Talk by artist Tina Mion about living and painting in restored Harvey hotels

• Debut of “The Magic Train,” by composer (and Fred’s great-grandson) Julian Harvey, followed by Q&A

• Panel on Harvey cuisine in restored Harvey spaces with Cedd Moses (LA Union Station), Matt McTigue

   (El Tovar), Sean Sinclair (Castaneda), Murphy O’Brien (Legal Tender Lamy) & others

• Talk on diversity at Grand Canyon, from a new NPS/Howard University study

• Update on Fred Harvey/Harvey Girl/Mary Colter/ATSF research & restoration with author Stephen Fried

Saturday night 10/26 is the Fred Harvey Foodie Dinner at La Fonda! This is a benefit for the

New Mexico History Museum, with classic Harvey dishes reinterpreted by guest chefs:

• Peter O’Brien (Inn of the Anasazi) • Annamaria O'Brien (Dolina Cafe)

• Lane Warner (La Fonda) • Chef & MC John Vollertsen (Chef Johnny Vee)

Diners will receive a boxed set of Mimbreno China ramekins by Mary Colter (reproduced by HF Coors) & a print of “The Last Harvey Girls” by Tina Mion.

Sunday 10/27 the Fred Harvey History Weekend moves to Las Vegas, New Mexico

To celebrate the revival of the Castañeda Hotel

At 1:30 P.M. owners Allan Affeldt & Tina Mion will discuss the restoration and give a tour.

At 3:00 the nearby Mayeur Projects Gallery (200 Plaza Park) will debut “Midnight Muse” - 

a big new show of Tina Mion paintings. Reception is free and open to the public.

Sunday night 10/27 the Castañeda premiers its new fine-dining restaurant: Kin!
