Yes, there are newer and some would say "more sophisticated" facilities in Santa Fe. I've stayed at one such facility, but I LOVE La Fonda. The history, colorful and funky appointments, location, and modern updates make La Fonda a delightful place to stay. Updated amenities include flat screen TVs and WiFi throughout the hotel.

Our room was delightful – charming decor and excellent balcony. This was the best hotel experience we have had, and we have traveled extensively.  Reservations service was prompt, courteous and helpful, the concierge was very nice, and the pool was very clean and well maintained.

Service was superb -- from the concierge to the waitress in the dining room. Incidentally, the food is excellent -- perfect menu.  That I will return to Santa Fe and immediately book La Fonda tells the whole story.

From the moment my wife and I entered your garage to check in we experienced nothing but courteous, friendly, and professional service from your staff. Everyone greeted us in a friendly manner and everyone was very helpful. Good service is particularly important to me and I would rate La Fonda's service as excellent. My wife and I spent a wonderful week at La Fonda last month, showing the town - and the hotel - to friends from Connecticut, who had never before visited New Mexico. A wonderful "pocket history" of Santa Fe is contained in the pictures and plaques displayed on your main floor, with stories about the interesting folks who have passed through - or stayed for years - in and around this monumental building. We were particularly proud to point out several Indian paintings embedded in the wall between the lobby and bar, which are the works of my wife's grandfather, Tomas Vigil. My wife, Kathryn Cruz Vigil Lippincott, is a Tesuque Indian; and, of course her family history goes back for many centuries in this part of the world. It is our opinion, however, that none of the area's fine museums does a better job of summing up the Native/Spanish/Anglo cultural impact on Santa Fe than your marvelous "Inn at the End of the Trail." Thank you for helping to maintain so many fine traditions!

My wife and I stayed at your wonderful hotel for our 30th wedding anniversary.  Whenever we come to Santa Fe we always stay at La Fonda. We have enjoyed each and every time, but this stay was the best and we will always remember it.  Your concierge staff helped us with transportation to the hotel and even got us an upgrade.  We also enjoyed the food in your restaurant—the Baby Back Ribs and the Rib Eye Steak were both excellent.  The next time we come to Santa Fe, we will certainly stay at La Fonda!

From the moment we arrived (3 hours before check-in time), everyone was so friendly and the front desk clerk got us into our room without hesitation. The hotel is so inviting and everyone was very accommodating. We truly enjoyed our stay and the atmosphere is just amazing. We are planning another trip to Santa Fe later this summer, and we will stay at La Fonda.  No need to even consider another hotel. We LOVED it. A great experience.

La Fonda is quite simply the greatest hotel in the world.  Keeping the old world charm while providing great service and amenities is a tough balancing act.  You do it with ease.  The rooms are really remarkable.  All the charm of the original hotel, but clean, well-maintained, and the bed was heavenly.  The Gift Shop attendant was like a mini-concierge – knowledgeable and willing to answer questions about nearby attractions.  And what a beautiful restaurant!  We ate there twice; once for breakfast and once for dinner.  We enjoyed both meals.  There are many fine restaurants in Santa Fe, and that’s a big reason we come so often, but the hotel restaurant is quite nice and not a step down, as so many hotel restaurants can be.

The hotel is vastly improved from our last visit in 1997. The public areas being the highlight, but the room was well decorated, large and very user friendly. It has the same feel as our favorite hotel in the world, the Ahwahnee Lodge in Yosemite National Park.

Our weekend with you on The Terrace concierge level was a smash success by any measure. I suspect you will see many of my guests again soon – yes, me included. I was not prepared for the extra little touches that set a fine hotel apart from a good hotel. Your attention to detail was evident everywhere, from all of the pillows on the bed to the chocolates at turn-down. And the layout of the hotel was quite intriguing - my particular room was in an ideal location. I could reach many of the meetings I was attending by going up a half-flight of stairs, or the lobby by going down one flight. I never used the elevator except for my luggage!  I had more available lighting than I can ever recall in a hotel room. Loved it.

The outstanding service began when we first arrived and Dave checked us in. We loved our room--beautiful and comfortable. Even the housekeeping staff was great. One gentleman went out of his way to make us feel welcome. I regret not getting his name, but he was wonderful.  I was at a conference being held at La Fonda and all the meals there were delicious!
