Friends of La Fonda
The Pikolinos shoe company from Spain, known for its artisan-crafted leather shoes and sandals, also makes an amazing collection of stylish boots, now available at Street Feet. With their hand-crafted look, supple leathers, and attention to detail, Pikolinos boots are the perfect choice for fall into winter. They are vegetable-dyed in the company’s own tannery, and water-treated for wetter climates. Street Feet co-owner Margaret Hanson notes that the boots come in heel heights from flat to stacked, and lengths from ankle to knee. Cutlery of Santa Fe
Even people who care little for knives get lured in by the teeny tiny pocket knives in the window of Cutlery at Santa Fe. “Ladies describe them as ‘cute’ — an uncommon knife description,” says shop co-owner Alan Van Pelt. Beautifully crafted by the Italian company Maserin, the knives come as small as 3/4 inch closed. Van Pelt says he can hardly keep them in stock because they’re so popular with collectors. “People are really creative with how they’re used,” he notes, such as turning them into bracelet charms, earrings, necklaces, even zipper pulls. “Every time I take them out of the case, people beam with excitement. They sell like crazy.”
