Spotlight on Giving Patients travel from around northern New Mexico for cancer treatment in Santa Fe; often from distant rural areas and without the support systems they have at home. To ease the burden for hard-stressed patients and families, the Cancer Foundation covers the cost of housing, transportation, and meals, along with offering emotional support during treatment. Created in 2003, the Cancer Foundation fills a crucial gap in a region with a high poverty rate. The group helps hundreds of patients every year with travel expense reimbursement, free lodging, grocery gift cards, free support groups, and Spanish-speaking interpreters. Your gift helps meet the financial, physiological, and emotional needs of cancer patients and their families.
