Live at La Fonda
Guitarist and lead vocalist Jim Almand of the Santa Fe blues band, The Rhubarbs, had some musician friends join in on a gig one night, and the results were electric. “The audience went nuts,” recalls Tom Briggs, a drummer who joined in along with his friend, guitarist Tim Arnold. Both men were members of the popular local band Julie and the Jettz.

When Julie and the Jettz disbanded a little later, The Attitudes were born, adding Julie Stewart’s vocals, Randy Clark on mandolin, and Tony Kahn on upright bass. “The harmonies, their interaction on stage, and the connection with the audience, it just clicked,” says Briggs, “like an accident waiting to happen.” The Attitudes has grown an impressive fan base in one short year, playing Almand’s original tunes — a  unique mix of blues, rock, R&B, jazz, and country they call Americana. Their high-energy show at La Fonda on the Plaza includes a whole lot of dancing. “We’re having a really good time,” grins Briggs.
