What Guests are Saying About La Fonda

"I can't say enough about the concern for my well-being that I found at La Fonda. I have traveled the world and no other hotel has ever been so responsive to my needs. This surprised me because my expectation was for an average reception in a touristy setting. Nothing could be farther from what I experienced from the staff. I arrived before check-in suffering from fatigue and altitude sickness and just as I was about to ask about the early check-in cost/procedure/availability, the manager told me that he had a room available -- nothing extra required. Unfortunately I ended up sick during my stay and was wandering the lobby at 4 a.m. looking for a coke. The guard on duty offered to go get one for me. That's over-the-top service -- something in my state that was so appreciated. Later in the day, the front desk sent up bubbly water -- so helpful and so appreciated as well. And something that I still don't understand is the "service charge" added by other hotels. That La Fonda doesn't have such a charge is remarkable." San Antonio,TX May, 2016

"The concierge employees at the La Fonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe, NM were the best I have ever worked with. They were very cheerful, full of great ideas and specific suggestions, and had all the info I needed every time I stopped by. I used their restaurant and day excursion recommendations and they were spot on every time. The hotel is located right on the Plaza for easy walking distance to a lot of eateries, shopping, museums, art galleries, churches, and many other attractions. The rooms were recently renovated and are a decent size. The room I stayed in had a shower and no tub. We asked for a room higher up to avoid the road noise and we stayed on the 3rd floor, which was fine for the most part. The bell tower bar on the roof top was awesome for drinks at sunset, it was a little crowded but that just means it is a good thing! If we arrived there >30 minutes before sunset, we had no problem finding a good place to sit. The service and breakfast in La Plazuela each morning was fantastic!! Try the French Toast or 3 egg omelet. Overall, we loved La Fonda and would return in a heartbeat." Sugar Land, TX August, 2015

"My husband and I stayed at La Fonda Hotel for our date weekend. The room assigned to us was absolutely beautiful. The room was inviting and we had an amazingly awesome view of downtown Santa Fe. The hotel staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. The hotel overall ambiance was spectacular! We will definitely be returning soon! Audra B, September, 2015

"I stay at the hotel for an annual conference. I have stayed there for the last 18 years. As incredible as it may seem, each stay is better than the last. Service and hospitality exceed or on par with the best 5 star hotel. If you can stay in La Teraza. So peaceful and gracious. The Staff was friendly and courteous. And for casual tourists, you can't beat the location, with a parking garage, and walking distance to nearly everyplace."Hilo,Hawaii July, 2015,

"I had the pleasure of a recent stay at this beautiful establishment. The room was absolutely one of the most comfortable I have ever stayed in. The housekeeping staff was amazing, and the grounds were impeccable! But the best treat of all was the knowledgeable Concierge Eric. Not only was he able to provide some of the best tips ever, but the places he recommended not only knew of him, but raved about him, and I think we received special attention because of it! I must say I have very rarely been treated so personal with such attention to detail. I understand the hotel has a new owner in the last few years....keep up the personal attention to detail that has made this wonderful establishment what it was in it's day. It would be a shame to let it go down the path of corporate demise." Houston, TX  July, 2015

"La Fonda on the Plaza is one of the most charming boutique hotels I have stayed in. The rooms are decorated with old world charm but up to date with all modern amenities . Comfortable beds, lovely linens and I had a wonderful view from my room overlooking the church. The restaurants in the hotel were fabulous, I especially liked the lunch buffet which was some of the best Mexican food I have had in a while. The staff could not have been nicer and the location was super close to all the wonderful shops Santa Fe has to offer." New York, NY  July 2015

“Very ADA-friendly and completely wheelchair accessible facilities and rooms! Been traveling about the world in a wheelchair for 30 years and did not have to ask for ANY changes or accommodations to meet my needs. Gabe Martinez who manages the Bell Tower is the pinnacle of hospitality, gave us a virtual tour of Santa Fe from the roof top and helped out some other folks in wheelchairs when things had to be moved inside due to weather during our symposium opening reception." Lexington, KY  July 2015

"This place oozes old southwest character and since their major renovation a few years back it is a top notch place to stay. The architecture and artifacts are awesome. The restaurants and attached shops like the bakery are really convenient and delicious. The plaza is an awesome location too. It is an annual for us now." Urbana, IL June, 2015

"I have been to Santa Fe about 12 times over the years, and have always stayed at 3 other luxury hotels. From arrival to departure, La Fonda was the best. Finally, you should especially be proud of your staff for their unfailing courtesy and professionalism." Los Angeles, CA June, 2015

"I started a long trip in US coming from Europe with a stop in Santa Fe. My choice for 2 nights was La Fonda, and I can tell you that it was a great experience. Rooms were spacious, new furnished, very clean, huge bath, a very friendly atmosphere. Plus location. Price was good, not too high, not too low, as I expected for such a place. For sure I will do it again, but what I want to mark its not their sunset terrace (marvelous idea, by the way), but their restaurant. They have the best Margarita and guacamole I find in US. So I will definitely do it again…" Bucharest, Romania June 2015

"I had not stayed at La Fonda for over 25 years. It was as wonderful this trip as it was way back then. The lobby is pure Santa Fe with saltillo tile floors and heavy wooden furniture. The staff was friendly and helpful at check-in. The room was very large with comfortable beds and delightful pillows and had the loveliest painted headboards. And there were plenty of electric outlets! The bathroom was a little small, but nicely appointed. We loved the rooftop 'Bell Tower' bar for watching the sunset while enjoying a delicious beverage. We also had dinner in the lobby restaurant and agreed the food was very tasty and our waiter could not have been nicer. But, I think the parking garage attendants get the extra star - they were so friendly and welcoming when we arrived, and so nice when we left and made sure we had bottled water for our trip. That was very appreciated.I look forward to going back to La Fonda again, and much sooner than another 25 years!"  Fort Worth, TX June 2015

"I had visited Santa Fe last year and regretted not staying at La Fonda. This year my husband and I made sure to book reservations at La Fonda. It exceeded my expectations (and they were high). We had a lovely balcony room and the decor in the room, and the entire hotel was magnificent. It really gave us that perfect "Santa Fe experience" that was missing last year. You could not have a better location. I loved my entire stay at La Fonda and hope to return some day."  Ewing, NJ, May, 2015

"On the Plaza in downtown old Santa Fe, the hotel was close to everything. Without needing the car, (parked in the attached small garage for a daily fee), we visited all sites, took a long walk to the street where all the art shops are, crossed the plaza to the Palace of Governors and the art museum, and walked to dinner each night at restaurants with top-notch food. We had a spotlessly clean room with a comfy king bed and a separate sitting room and bathroom. This set up is great for couples where one is an early riser. Windows overlooked the pool and even with windows in the room open, totally quiet. There was also a small balcony. The lobby of the hotel is a happening place and there was dancing in the lounge with a live band on Friday night. We ate in the hotel restaurant one night instead of heading out again, and found it excellent. We would eat there again."   Longwood, Florida  May, 2015
