25 Tips to Go Green for Earth Day and Every Day

Here at La Fonda, we try to treat every day as Earth Day and continually strive to enhance our green initiatives throughout the hotel. Those initiatives include recycling bins for cardboard, paper, glass, aluminum and plastic in each of our guestrooms; water-saving measures including guest room towels changed only by request, linens changed every fourth day and restaurant water served by request; installation of low-flow toilets and shower heads; reducing our paper consumption by using email and online message boards as well as washable napkins and table-cloths; using recycled material for hotel collateral; using biodegradable straws and recycled take-out containers; reducing electricity demand by using energy saving light bulbs, hand dryers, flat screen TV’s and automatic lights in storerooms; using non-toxic soy-based inks, low VOC paints and environmentally friendly cleaning products; and whenever possible sourcing food locally for our restaurant and catering operations.
